• Career Break (July 2021 - Present)

  • Took an extended career break to travel and focus on personal development. Converted a van into a campervan to travel around Europe. Predominantly touring Spain for rock climbing and learning Spanish.
  • More recently spent the time upskilling. Refreshing Python programming skills and completing the AWS Solutions Architect – Associate Certificate.

• Datacentre Operations Engineer (April 2019 – July 2021) - Paddy Power Betfair (Flutter Entertainment)

  • Maintained DC estate as well as comms rooms across European offices. Working at pace to resolve compute, storage and network incidents in accordance with SLA’s.
  • Worked as part of a fast-paced team using the SCRUM workflow methodology.
  • Participated in out of hours on-call rota ensuring business-critical incidents were resolved in a timely manner.
  • Created SOPs for installs, troubleshooting and dealing with recurring incidents.
  • Collaborated with business stakeholders and infrastructure teams to plan and deliver projects such as MPLS network upgrades, rollout of private cloud infrastructure, and power redundancy remediation.

  • Joined the Infra Ops team on a short secondment.
  • Managed backup appliances and storage arrays including provisioning, zoning, and performance monitoring.
  • Maintained Hyper-V and VMware estate.
  • Performed Root Cause Analysis and troubleshooting on Linux and Windows servers.

Cloud Resume Challenge | GitHub

Developed a cloud-native website based on AWS services as part of the Cloud Resume Challenge.

• Frontend: HTML, CSS and Javascript hosted on S3 with CloudFront as a CDN
• Backend: Python Lambda function to connect to DynamoDB exposed as an API Gateway resource
• Automation: Terraform for Infra as Code, Github Actions for CI/CD, Git and Github for version control
• Testing: Cypress and pytest
